About Kerry Kirby

I am a Norfolk-based potter living in the market town of Diss on the border with Suffolk. Using selected stoneware and porcelain clays with hand mixed glazes, I create ceramic pieces intended to be as useful as they are beautiful.

It was the search for stillness within a busy life, running a small marketing and design agency, that first led me to ceramics.  From pinching that first pot in my teacher’s garden studio on a calm spring evening, I immediately became absorbed with clay and the tranquility it brought.  These feelings are now reflected heavily in the simple quiet forms I create and muted palettes used.

An upbringing on a local farm just ten miles from my studio, fused with the striking landscapes of the North East, where I studied and lived for a number of years, play a big part in influencing my designs.

Each item in my collection is designed around functionality and natural beauty with the intention to be used and loved within the home.

Outside of my studio I run Splice Creative with my husband Mark and chase around after our cheeky toddler Jake. He’s already taking an interest in clay so I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
